In an announcement that should surprise no one, Aretha Franklin is set to be inducted into the Memphis Music Hall of Fame.

The Queen of Soul -- who was born in Memphis in 1942, and died last month at the age of 76 -- leads this year's list of inductees, which also includes The Box Tops, O’Landa Draper, Memphis rappers 8Ball & MJG, R&B singer-songwriter Eddie Floyd and rockabilly pioneers The Rock and Roll Trio.

Franklin is the biggest star on this list by far, and a cursory look at the MMHOF's past inductees might make even a casual Aretha fan wonder how she managed to be passed over in the last seven induction ceremonies since the Hall of Fame's opening in 2012.

By contrast, Aretha was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1987, the second year the ceremony was held. She was the first woman to be inducted.

The late singer and her fellow inductees will be honored at the Memphis Music Hall of Fame's induction ceremony on November 1.
